aCCEPTING THE rEAL chRIST

In this third week of Advent, the long-awaiting Messiah finally comes, but his arrival is different than expected. The story of Joseph demonstrates that our celebration of Christ comes with accepting that God works in unexpected ways. We do not celebrate who we want Christ to be, but who he actually is.

Today is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. Advent means coming.
We light this candle as a symbol of the coming light of Christ.

We read in Isaiah 9:2
”The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned. “

Jesus said about himself, “I AM the light of the world.” Jesus came to open our eyes to the light of his presence and gifts. He brought our dead spirits to life so we could know God now and forevermore. Praise be to God!

And we read in Isaiah 9: 6
“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And his name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

How extraordinary! Jesus was born to us and was given for us. He is our Wonderful Counselor! He is our Mighty God! He is our Everlasting Father! He is our Prince of Peace! May each of us open our hearts to Him this Advent season!
